Of course yes. Your current flexibility is the starting point and we will develop your muscle strength and flexibility from there. It is very important to know that everyone is different - some of us have bendy shoulders, others have more open hips - we have to work on all our muscle groups regularly but the training of certain body parts will always be easier than others. People who seem to be super bendy have trained for many years to be where they are now, even the ones with "genetic flexibility". It might seem impossible for you now, but YOU too can achieve many flexibility goals through systematic stretching.
Not at all. We will adjust the exercised to your level of fitness.
The stretching at the end of your sport activity is very important because it facilitates the rehabilitation of the loaded muscles. At the same time, unfortunately, it is common that the time left for stretching is too short and the performance of the given stretches is not correct. The stretching class would help you to learn how to stretch after your sport activities. Participating regularly would contribute to
- the maintanence of your muscle elasticity,
- increase the ROM of your joints,
- decrease the risk of injury,
- relax the tightened and shortened muscles and
- improve you sport performance in general.
Regarding the exercises there are a lot of similarities. The main difference is that through movement yoga helps you to focus on your inner spiritual processes and there is often meditation involved. Stretching is a more "practical" training where we are focusing on certain muscle groups/body parts. It is important to mention though that breathing plays a major role during stretching too.
Any sport activity done with moderation is good for our bodies but there is no need to train additionally.
The classes are mixed, women and men are both very welcome to participate. The exercises are the same for both genders.
You jut need to bring yourself and a bottle of non-carbonated water. All stretching equipment (mats, yoga blocks, foam rollers etc.) are provided.
You should wear comfortable training clothes and socks. It is important that they should not be too tight but it helps if they fit to the body so that we can always check the alignment during exercises.
A nice after-workout feeling and some muscle soreness the next day.
Private classes are 55 or 85 minutes long. I personally recommend 55 minutes because when you are alone, the instructor is focusing only on you and therefore you will work much more than on a regular group class. :) Group classes are 85 minutes long because of the higher number of participants.
